Quick answer

Last updated

  • FileSway merges several PDFs into one file on your iPhone, and you set the order of files and pages before you export.
  • You can set a size cap of 10, 15, 25, 35 or 50 MB, or a custom size, and preview the pages.
  • In the Files app, select the files and use Create PDF when that action is listed, though Apple may move these menus.
  • FileSway adds a typed page order, size caps and a preview that Create PDF does not.
  • See Pricing for what’s included in Free and Pro, and you do not need an account.
  • Document processing does not upload your PDFs to our servers, and PDF tools run on your iPhone.

Merge PDFs

Add unlocked PDFs from Files. You choose the order of files and pages before exporting. FileSway shows what’s included in Free and Pro before you convert. There is no account.

  1. Open FileSway and add the unlocked PDFs from Files.

  2. Choose the order of the files and the pages before you export.

  3. Type page numbers or ranges, such as 5, 1, 3-7, or tap and drag. Pages export in the order you type. Select all, deselect all, or switch to Arrange and reorder with handles.

  4. Review the pages. Merging can affect links, forms and signatures.

  5. Save to Files, share, or export. Your originals stay unchanged.

This capture is the Pages screen for one PDF. The typed order 5, 1, 3 is the output order. It is not a list of separate files.

Reorder pages after merging

On the Pages screen, the order you type is the output order. A list such as 5, 1, 3 keeps those pages and puts Page 5 first. You can also tap and drag, use select all or deselect all, or switch to Arrange and reorder with the handles. Deselected pages stay visible in the list. Split, reorder or delete PDF pages.

If the pages started as photos, use Photo to PDF. See Pricing for what’s included in Free and Pro.

Files app Create PDF vs FileSway

Recent iOS versions can combine files in the Files app. Apple may move these menus. FileSway shows what’s included in Free and Pro before you convert.

  1. Open the Files app.

  2. Select the files.

  3. Use Create PDF when that action is listed.

When an app is better

  • You want the page order typed, such as 5, 1, 3-7, or set with Arrange handles.
  • You want a size cap of 10, 15, 25, 35 or 50 MB, or a custom size, and a preview before you export.
  • The PDFs have links, forms or signatures to check. Merging can affect them.
  • You want searchable text. On-device OCR is FileSway Pro, and it can contain errors.

Make the merged file smaller

In PDF tools, prepare the PDF for a size cap of 10, 15, 25, 35 or 50 MB, or a custom size. If one file can’t fit, FileSway can split it into numbered parts and keep page order. A multi-page PDF can still produce more than one result file on the free plan. Preview the original against the finished pages. Compress a PDF.

Compressing or splitting can affect forms, links and signatures, and merging can affect them too. FileSway does not promise a destination will accept the file. Check the instructions you were given.

Document processing does not upload your files to our servers.

PDF tools run on your iPhone. Cloud file providers, Apple purchases and restore, and links you choose to open can still use the internet.
